The Australian Government’s Home Guarantee Scheme (HGS), is designed to help eligible first home buyers purchase a property faster, with a lower deposit and without paying expensive Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) at competitive interest rates.
With the Home Guarantee scheme, eligible buyers can purchase a home with as little as a 5% deposit, while enjoying competitive interest rates similar to customers with a 20% deposit. Eligibility criteria applies.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

Be an individual or two joint applicants.

Be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
-
Be 18 years or older.
-
Have an income up to $125,000 (individual) or $200,000 (joint), based on the Notice of Assessment (NOA). (Income cap removed 1 October 2025)

Intend to owner-occupy the property.
-
Be first home buyers, or not have owned property in Australia in the past ten years.

Eligible Residential Properties may include new and established houses, townhouses, units, or apartments and land and construction

Each location has a property price cap and lending is subject to the participating lender’s policies. See Price Cap table below​
